Prepare for seasons

Ukraine has four distinct seasons. Weather can change quickly, and military or travel conditions may require standing outside for long periods.

WinterCold, snow, ice, wind. Bring thermal base layers, warm socks, gloves, hat, waterproof boots and a winter jacket.
SpringUnstable weather: rain, mud, cold mornings and warmer afternoons. Bring layers, waterproof footwear and a light rain jacket.
SummerHot days, strong sun, insects and occasional storms. Bring breathable clothes, cap, sunscreen, water bottle and spare socks.
AutumnRain, wind, mud and falling temperatures. Bring warm layers, waterproof jacket, durable boots and extra dry clothing.

Practical rule: layers are better than one thick item. Keep feet dry and always have spare socks.
